They have locations in Virginia, New York, New Hampshire, Georgia will open in the summer of 2019 and they are launching a cabin site in California late 2019. I visited the Virginia location which is 2.5 hours away from Washington D.C., Baltimore, MD and my hometown of Frederick, MD. The Virginia location has a gas station 7 minutes from the cabins so you don't have to worry about running out of gas and getting stranded in the middle of the woods like stereotypical plot line of all horror movies.
I love nature and being in the woods just does something special for my soul! Maybe it's because I consider myself to be the 20th century Pocahontas or maybe it's the Cherokee Indian in my genes. Either way, nature is my jam and this tiny cabin fulfilled all my into the woods dreams! Now if the woods scare you, don't worry you aren't the only person in the middle of the woods. Each Getaway location has 35-45 other cabins on the property in addition to the one you will be staying in. A property host house similar to the front desk at the hotel is also on site. If that's not enough to ease your mind, each cabin has an electric keypad lock to allow access into the cabin so you are perfectly safe. I went completely alone, well my dog was with me, and I felt completely secure! Yes, you heard that right, Bristol got to go with me since Getaway is a pet friendly escape! For $40 extra, you can bring your fur child along for the adventure! Getaway will spoil your dog with a BarkBox (a subscription box for dogs filled with toys and treats) upon arrival to make their stay enjoyable as well.
Each tiny cabin is named after a person and is fully loaded with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay no matter what season you visit. I know because I just so happen to visit the day after a major snow storm! The cabin has HEAT! Praise Jesus, hallelujah because I do not do cold. I was ecstatic when I spotted the LG thermostat on the wall. There are also 2 space heaters provided for you and with all those heating elements going it got so warm in there! The cabin has a stove, Daewoo mini fridge, pots, pans, silverware, sink, trash can, dog feeding bowls, lantern, radio, phone, lighter. OK you get the picture, they literally thought of everything! I brought some food to cook but they also have a food station with pasta, oatmeal and snacks that you can purchase if you get hungry. Now the question that I am sure is pressing on your mind...the bathroom. Get excited y'all, the bathroom and shower is located inside the cabin. I know you were thinking you might have to get super rustic and go in an outhouse like boy or girl scout camp but Getaway is a semi luxury tiny cabin experience so you won't have rough it!
Where all my campfire lovers at?! Getaway had you in mind when they designed their outside portion of the cabin! It's complete with Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, firewood and the perfect fire pit to pull of a great bonfire! There's also a grill for cooking and don't forget to grab the smores packet they provide for you in the cabin to end your bonfire with a sweet treat!
