Nevada

Nevada, home of the ever so famous Las Vegas, which as an east coaster is really just a clone of New York plopped in the desert if you ask me ;) but thankfully Nevada has so much more to offer than just the glitz and glam casino life that you really only hear about, and I truthfully wasn’t fond of. There’s just something about seeing an elder person on an oxygen tank in a trance starring at a machine and throwing away their money that doesn’t sit well with me🙃 okay, enough of the negative because there were some huge positives about Nevada so let's unpack them!

Where to Stay?

I stayed at the Luxor and thoroughly enjoyed it! I actually stayed one night in another hotel that appeared to be really cool and interesting, but I hated it so checking into the Luxor the next night was like going from the Super 8 Motel to the 4 Seasons! One of my biggest pet peeves is when there's a theme and it's not executed well. Las Vegas definitely knows how to execute a theme with all its extravagant hotel concepts that put you right in a different country when you walk through the door. The Luxor Hotel, based on a replica of the city in Egypt, did not disappoint! Having been to Egypt myself, the special touches to make you feel like you were actually there did not go unnoticed. For the casino lovers, there is a massive casino on the main level along with Starbucks, a slushie counter (Slurpees are life), and restaurants. We ate at the Public House Restaurant, and it was so good! The atmosphere was fun too! It would be so great to catch a sports game there with the wall-to-wall tv screens throughout the restaurant. The bedrooms were luxurious as well! I loved the bathroom and all the gold accents. They really did a great job at this hotel and for the luxurious feel I couldn't believe the bargain of a price.

What To Do?

The city is known for its glitz and glamourous strip. Here you will find endless shopping, twinkle lights and the iconic themed hotels. I definitely recommend going in to as many hotels as your feet can handle! We got in 20,000 steps that day and only visited 4 hotels but experiencing the masterpiece artistry in these hotels was definitely work the wear and tear on our feet! It truly is remarkable how you are transported to Italy, Paris, New York and everywhere else when you walk into these hotels. My favorite hotels were the Venetian, Bellagio, Paris and Ceasars Palace. Bravo to the marketing team, artists and contractors on each hotel assignment because they did not miss a thing! Awesome, Awesome pieces of art displayed on the strip that you're going to want to experience!

Once you've had enough of the city :) Or maybe you're just a nature lover like me, I recommend heading to Red Rock Canyon. Just about 20 minutes outside the hustle and bustle puts you in such a beautiful place! On the way, stop in the community called Summerlin. They have a lot of great restaurants and stores if you need anything. I grabbed a healthy lunch at Bowlology to take with me and fuel up for my nature exploration at Red Rock Canyon. Prepare for your eyes to see many of the desert's most stunning spots at this reservation. Some of the best red- and sandstone-colored mountains are located here, and it was absolutely gorgeous! There are many hiking trails and subdivisions of the canyon like Calico Basin and Red Spring throughout the Canyon. I also recommend taking the scenic drive loop. For $15, you can take in all the beauty from the comfort of your car on the 40-minute ride. There are tons of stop off spots for the most epic desert mountain picture landscapes throughout the loop as well. This

was absolutely the highlight of my trip to Vegas!
